We aim to help all our children develop a love of music and music making through participation and learning. Through class lessons, both practical and theoretical, they will develop an inner awareness of musical genre and appreciation and cultural and stylistic differences across the musical world.
“Our music is sometimes challenging, sometimes loud, always enjoyable and, most importantly, a lot of fun.”
Each year group participates fully in the musical life of the school. Christmas at our school is a very special time with several external singing engagements as well as local community projects. Performance evenings, schools plays, the summer musical are just some of the events that enrich the musical life of our school.
We also aim to help children realise their musical potential with the acquisition of a range of musical skills and understanding by providing the very best in peripatetic teaching staff covering many instrumental disciplines. Our children are encouraged to work towards ABRSM examinations.
The school enjoys a cross-curricular approach to music, combining with drama and LAMDA lessons to enrich musical understanding and with Science and IT to provide an insight into the world of music technology.
